Magazine Professional Services, a janitorial service company located in North Lawndale, was initially started as a home-based business. By 2002, the company already employed 12 workers and Mr. Magazine, the company's owner, saw an opportunity to expand into new markets and further grow the company.
CCV recognized the company’s growth-potential and admired Mr. Magazine’s commitment to his community. In 2003, MPS qualified for a term loan from our Neighborhood Transformation Loan Fund to purchase a 1,500 square foot warehouse and additional equipment.
After securing financing, MPS won several large contracts with big box retailers throughout Chicago and the mid-west. The company now employs 22 people and proudly hires “hard-to-employ” workers such as disabled people and ex-felons.
