City Treasurer Announces Top 10 finalists in 2008 Chicago Business Plan Competition

Chicago City Treasurer Stephanie Neely is proud to announce the 10 finalists in the 2008 annual business plan competition. The competition drew a record response in 2008, and the Treasurer hopes this translates to another record crowd at the 2008 Small Business Expo on August 1st, at the new UIC Forum, located at Halsted and Roosevelt.

Treasurer Neely says “This year we were pleased not only with quantity of entrants but also the quality of virtually all of the plans submitted.” I have made helping Chicago small business owners a top priority of my Office, and having a solid foundation of a good business plan is a key to the success of any small business” according to Treasurer Neely.

“Chicago may be known as the “City of big shoulders” – but we are also a City of small businesses. About 92% of business licenses in our City go to small businesses, and small business owners are a key to the overall economy of our neighborhoods, providing vital services and jobs to their communities.”

The 3 winners will be announced at the City Treasurer’s FREE Small Business Expo on August 1st.
